Cylinders have internationally recognized markings and colors on the body and shoulders, and a written label or collar on the neck. Colors indicate hazards and labels identify gases.
1. Gas cylinder stamping
The mark on the shoulder of the cylinder is the main identification criterion. The gas name is always printed on the shoulder of the cylinder. The markings also describe the cylinder's inspection, manufacturer, weight, pressure and volume. Marking complies with SFS-EN 13769 standard.

2. Gas cylinder coloring
The coloring of Woikoski cylinders is carried out in accordance with the EN 1089-3 standard. According to reports, the cylindrical part of the cylinder for medical gas is white, and the cylindrical part of the cylinder for industrial gas (excluding acetylene and liquefied petroleum gas) is graphite gray.
The shoulder of the cylinder indicates the type of gas in the cylinder. Some gases have their own identifying colors.
●Acetylene-Red Oxide, RAL 3009
●Helium - olive brown, RAL 8008
●Oxygen - pure white, RAL 9010
●Nitrous oxide - Gentian Blue, RAL 5010
●Argon - emerald green, RAL 6001
●Nitrogen - deep black, RAL 9005
●Carbon dioxide - gray gray, RAL 7037
The cylinder part of the industrial oxygen cylinder is graphite gray, and the cylinder part of the medical oxygen cylinder is white. The shoulders of the cylinders are painted white, indicating that they contain oxygen.
If the gas has no flag color, the color of the shoulder indicates the gas's properties:
●Toxic - yellow, RAL 1018
●Flammable - red, RAL 3000
●Oxidized - light blue, RAL 5012
●Inert - bright green, RAL 6016
Depending on the gas, the gas mixture may be a variety of colors on the shoulder of the cylinder. If the gas concentrations are the same, stamp and paint in a pre-agreed sequence. The neck ring can be used as an additional identifier (e.g. gas purity, special area of use, etc.).
3. Gas cylinder label
The most important label for gas identification is the so-called wing sticker, which contains the gas name, possible trade name, composition (mixture), safety instructions, classification mark and contact information of the gas supplier. The background color of medical gas wing stickers is white, industrial gases are yellow, and food gases are green. The information content of the wing stickers is based on the SFS-EN ISO 7225 standard.
